our mission

Capture1.JPG

In July of 1969, Neil Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon.

Then there was Buzz Aldrin, Charles Conrad, Alan Bean, Alan Shepard, Edgar Mitchell, David Randolph Scott, James Irwin, John Watts Young, Charles Duke Jr., Jack Schmitt, and Eugene Cernan.

Since 1972, the lunar surface has been touched by nothing more than solar radiation and a small number of probes.

In 2025, NASA will launch the first mission back to the Moon since Apollo 17.

Team ASTRA will be a part of the crucial mission that will push humanity to the surface of more than just our Moon utilizing the STELLA landing module.

Project Design and Motivation

A New Campaign is in development to return to the Moon before 2030.

A reusable Lunar Module must be sustainable for long-term missions between Low Lunar Orbit (LLO) and the surface of the Moon along an evolutionary pathway over the next 15 years, so that it can adapt as technology advances.

The 2 mission modes that must be accommodated are:

  • 6 days on the surface, 2 crew,  500 kg of cargo

  • 2 days on the surface, 4 crew, 100 kg of cargo

This lunar campaign will be a stepping stone for a Mars Exploration Program utilizing the Deep Space Gateway.
